This stuff seems to work quite well. I don't think I'll ever have any trouble with the cap roof joints leaking again.

That looks great! What was your system of cleaning the area before applying the tape. I'm VERY interested.

Soap and water. . .scrubbed with a 5-inch nylon bristle brush, then toweled dry.
Solvents can be used if there's pine pitch or tree sap, but mine was pretty clean to start with.
The tape is 4-inches wide.

Rich:

I just ordered a roll of 6"-wide Eternabond tape as a result of your offering a solution to my problem. If 4"-wide is good, perhaps 6"-wide is better. I look forward to not worring about those darn roof/cap seams every time it rains.

Rich I have heard of this stuff in the past but I dismissed it without looking into it. I think this may be what all here need to use. It looks to apply easily and will last longer than the TPO roof it self. My only reservation would be how to remove it when it comes time to replace the TPO roof?

Have thought about using this around the vents too? How about the skylight in the shower area and the vent pipes?

I think I will follow you and do this as well.

Thanks for the tip.

Allen

Jerry "Budster" from the other forums camped at our place with his new-used Lazy Days. Jerry said that the LazyDaze motor home group swears by the Eternabond tape and wish that the factory would put it on during construction. So I decided to try it. It looks like it will work and I'm thinking that this might something that Eagle Cap should consider in their manufacturing process.

My 6" Eternabond tape arrived quickly and my roof/cap seams are now covered. The 6" tape worked well on the front but I believe I would use the 4" on the rear joint. I used soap and water and a fairly stiff brush to clean the area, and on the rear joint I marked and cut out some of the sides of the tape to better meet the luggage rack supports and the bathroom skylight before the tape backing was removed. Find a cool place to work, and a helper does make the job easier to align the tape for a professional look. The tape cannot be repositioned, so lay it down correctly the first time. It seems to me that this stuff will remain there forever (eternally).

Forgot to add this. Would this be equally good on the seams around the bottom of the camper where the floor meets the sides on the outside is what I mean sometimes don't make myself real clear know what I want to say just don't think it out far enough.

The old caulk was still water tight - so I went right over it.

Okay, bought the Eternabond saturday and put it not. Not nearly as nice looking as the job Rich did. My 800 has part of the roof sloping to the rear, and the darn rear cap top slopes toward the front. So the joint is 1/4 inch tall plus the screws and Dicor add another 1/4 inch, and the skylight forms a dam on the drivers side and the gutter forms a dam on the passenger side. So when I layed on the Eternabond everywhere it passed over a fastener it puckered on the fabric edge. And you can't roller those folds out. Did the best I could and put a little Dicor on the ends and at the puckers. Now I will also park the camper with a lot of slant to the roof to try to keep water from pooling back there. When it is level and it rains there is a 1/4 inch or so of water standing the full width of the camper along the joint. Pretty fragile situation. The front seam went better as there is not much in the way on the sides, but still had some puckers when it passed over fastenings.

Tell me how you guys feel about the value of the dicor under the eternabond. Better off leaving it or not?
