Labor Day
Labor Day United States federal holiday observed on the first Monday in September (September 6 in 2010).

The first Labor Day in the United States was celebrated on September 5, 1882 in New York City. In the aftermath of the deaths of a number of workers at the hands of the U.S. military and U.S. Marshals during the 1894 Pullman Strike, President Grover Cleveland put reconciliation with Labor as a top political priority. Fearing further conflict, legislation making Labor Day a national holiday was rushed through Congress unanimously and signed into law a mere six days after the end of the strike. All 50 U.S. states have made Labor Day a state holiday.

I have always wondered why the windows in the camper didn't open all the way. Sliding the windows to the fully open postion they still had 3 1/2" of glass hanging over the screen. Not a real problem with the large window by the dinette but it is with all the others. Most of the windows in my 950 are smaller and that 3 1/2" covers lots of area that would be nice to have for ventilation.

During my last trip I removed the rubber insert that keeps the windows from opening fully and looked to see why they were so long. I couldn't see a reason so I cut off about 1 3/4" on each end of the insert. Now the windows open to where the radius starts on the glass slider and there it only about 1 1/4" of glass that covers the screen. I am guessing that the smaller windows lost about 20% of there ventilation capacity due to the overlap of glass on the screen.

Doing this helps to cool camper off better at night and gives the bunk area just a bit more breeze, nice on a hot day.

While we are on the subject of ventilation, all my buddies have the fantastic fan in the dining area of the camper as opposed to the vent over the bed. I never run mine because it is over the bed and sounds like a fan boat on the Everglades. Anyone know why they put this fan over the bed?

I think it is there to wake the dead Really my guess is that it pulls air into the bunk windows when it is located closer. I keeps me awake too, I put one in the bathroom. Makes one hell of a fan when you are in the shower!! But really it is very quiet from the bunk. Only drawback is that the windows closer to the fan need to be closed to get air thru the bunk windows.

Maybe someone can tell us the real reason. I like not having a big escape hatch over the bed in the winter, not as much sweat. And rain on big hatch WOW that is loud at night...

How'd you get the rubber insert out. . .grab it with pliers and pull?

The insert has a hollow core that runs the entire length. I just inserted a Philips screwdriver in one end and lifted that up then just grabbed it with my fingers and pulled the rest of the insert out. It comes out very easy when warm.

I did this yesterday... and talk about a difference in letting air inside the rig to cool it off at night. I was able to grab the rubber with my fingers to pull it out and cut it.

Does anyone know why the factory does not allow the windows to open all of the way?

When using the ceiling fan you need to balance the airflow from the open windows. If you want more airflow in the cabover bed area then open these windows a bit and just crack the windows in the kitchen and dinette areas.

Try this... with all windows closed turn the ceiling fan on. Next open just one window and feel the hurricane. Continue to open other windows where a nice breeze is wanted and stop when the flow is as you like it. This will balance the cooling in your TC and selecting the fan speed will tone down the noise too. Obviously slower fan speed will mean that the windows will need to be less open.

Lastly if it is raining you can open the small window below the cabover step at the front and turn the Maxxair fan on and not have any rain get in. This is what makes the Maxxair so nice. That and the fact that the fan motor is mounted in a different way and this makes the Maxxair sooo much quieter. Having the one with the thermostat sets the temp where we like it and it turns off and on as needed. Set it and forget it.

This has to be one of the best tips ever.
I've always disliked the appearance of the window bar when it would not fully open.
This weekend I put a finger under the rubber molding, pulled it out, trimmed it, and reinstalled it. Wifie loved it.
You'd think this would be done at the factory?

I wonder if this is just a problem with the thermo pane windows. Are the single pane the same? I have never looked closely at the single pane windows.

About the fan over the bed,,my wife loves it as it drowns out my snoring....she sleeps with her head close to the step area ,she gets up more than I do at night. really she almost puts her head out the window which she keeps open thru all weather conditions...something about hot flashes I guess. After driving all day I could fall asleep on the street.

I amost forgot about triming the rubber stops on our winds. Then Today my wife asked if I had fixed the windows to open wider. I said yes, then ran right out and fixed them.
