I needed to find an easier way to move the boat and camper around in the shop so decided to try a camper dolly. Instead of having to load the camper every time I wanted to get the boat out, now I can slide things around. The frame is built out of 2 x 12 and 2 x 10's and sheeted with 3/4" plywood. The caster wheels are from ebay, 5" swivel wheels with a 661 pound capacity per wheel.

Well, it wasn't exactly easy but the camper dolly experiment worked as intended. It required walking the corners to get it where I wanted it.

That's the cat's meow! Nice job!
Do you think that you might do the project a little differently if you were to do it over again?

Thinking about it. . .you could cut filler strip for those expansion cuts so that the rollers would cross it easier.

Well, I'll tell you the challenge for me on this project. I thought that I had to use all swivel casters as the dolly needs to go in north & south but push east & west. 8 swivel casters are a lot to keep aligned. I think 4 & 4 would have made for an easier moving dolly. On my 850, it was the jack legs that caused me concern about putting the dolly in from the side. In hindsight, I think I might have been able to get it in by a hair.
