New to forum and Truck Camping
#1
Hello everyone, My Name is Steven and I purchased a 2016 Eagle Cap 1160 back in April 2016.  I am new to this forum, and new to Truck Camping.  I wanted to read up on what people are doing to their Truck Campers, and post what I am doing...  I thought this is the place to find out what to look out for on my 1160.

Hi Bob V, Thanks for your greetings.   I also liked the 1165, but I was worried about the weight, so I bought the 1160... I hope you have a 450/550 sized truck to haul the Eagle cap.  I have a Ford f 350 Dually, and the 1160 is on the heavy side for my truck.  There is a good article on Truck camper magazine about the Eagle Cap 1165 with a Ram 5500 setup.

Yes, I have a 2011 F450, but will be really pushing the limits on it. My current lance camper is about 5,000lbs loade up and ready to go, I figure about an extra 1,000ls go the 1165.
I actually had the Lance on a SWR F350. It did it but I never was comfortable, it had plenty of brakrd, just felt top heavy. I knew I needed a dually.
While I was looking for one I test drive a 2008 F450. I noticed right away that it turned way sharper than my F350. I found out that the wide front axle on the 4x4 F450 (and some DRW F350s) gave a 5' shooter turning circle. I found this truck on a lot at a really good price very happy with it.

Sounds like your all set.  I may need to install 19.5" wheels to get more carrying capacity on my tires, go from an E to G rating tire.  I need to go and weight my camper fully loaded.
