Thinking of changing out our "propane only" water heater in our 86SBS for an electric/propane heater.  It looks like the dimensions of the 2 heaters are the same so the only problem I see is finding space for a 15 amp electrical breaker in the panel.

Just wondering if anyone else has tried this?  Any pitfalls I might have missed.
Hello.
I thought about replacing the propane only water heater also with electric/gas unit. Suburban makes an exact fit replacement for the camper. I went a different route though and had a "Hott Rod" installed for about 100 dollars and it works great. In fact, sometimes the water is too hot so I had to adjust the thermostat down. A switch was installed on the kitchen island and when we get to a campground and hook up to water I turn on the switch and it heats the water. I will look at how they wired it but I can't follow the lead. Just a suggestion in case you don't want to pull out the entire water heater.
Excellent idea, thank you.  Any idea where I can get the Hott Rod - can't seem to find it on Google.

Kinda' expensive but must be cheaper than replacing the water heater.  Nice find!

My last experience with Camping World:  Found the item on Camping World website  - went to the store and found they had the item on the shelf.  The item had a SALE tag/price on it but cost more than the website price.  I showed the cash register salesperson the online advertisement via my cell phone and they honored the online price.
