In the opulent Furnace Creek area of Death Valley National Park:
Just 25 miles away in Stove Pipe Wells gas was only $6.20 / gallon.

With America (and neighboring Alberta) sitting on an virtual sea of hydrocarbons, it’s truly shameful how much fuel cost have risen (root cause, political free-markets meddling, IMO), and I don’t believe that ‘reported coincidences’ can truthfully explain this…We all want a green planet, and the truth is that (according to NASA) temps have risen by only 1 deg C over the entire last century, while today’s earth’s forestation is also at a record high (most likely thanks to CO2, eco-necessary as a plant fertilizer), and no large industrial based country on earth has done more to bring pollution reducing technology to the table than has America…And consider the relatively undiscussed amounts (??) of pollution that’s related to the wholesale overseas mining of earth-rare battery minerals (Lithium, cobalt, et al - NIMBY comes to mind) …Compare the West to the level of air pollution in China where it’s often difficult to even see across the street…Sorry for my rant, admittedly JMO only…Either way, when it comes to the made popular ‘extreme climate claims’ it kinda makes me wonder about the petrified ancient redwood tree stumps that can be found at the Arctic Circle!!

Well to quote an old truism in economics, “It’s not that the cost of things is going up, it’s actually that the value of the dollar keeps going down”….Why is that??
One need only consider the 20th century devised mechanisms that were ‘animated’ to make this ‘backdoor tax’ a reality (i.e. inflation caused by monetary dilution…) - as ‘administered’ per what’s a relatively unrecognizable, siamesed, quasi-gov’t Taxing Authority (e.g. the Fed…) as a legacy reality - the added cost of inflation as a indirect, hidden tax…

Rich, with summer looming just around the corner, looks like those uber high fuel cost going on in Furnace Creek back in April might soon become a reality nationwide??…Though we can only hope that at some point common sense might win out, I wonder how this high price trend is impacting other’s trip or future vacation plans??…FWIW, we cancelled a long planned trip to eastern Washington-Idaho region…

We were traveling north through western Nevada a few weeks ago.
I fueled up in Winnemucca - diesel wasn't as high even a few weeks ago.
It was the most I ever spent up to that point: $176.00
But it wasn't too bad - the pump across from my pump showed a $900.00 total was left.
Must have been a trucker. . .
