What is this switch and what does it do?
#1
I inherited my dad's 2004 Eagle Cap 950.  Low hours and low use. He has passed so I'm reaching out to you for help. There are three face plates located on the left hand wall where the step to the sleeping quarters are located. 1-phone, 2, power out let and 3-a rocker switch. I would like to know about the rocker switch. When I turn it on, I can hear something turn on under the sink. It's been in the off position until I can find out what it is.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your dear dad - I’m not familiar with you camper model, but from your description, if it’s a pulsating sound it might be the water pump - just a guess from afar…

Yes, that sure makes me think that what you're hearing is the water pump.
If the water pump has any air in the lines, which often happens and is quite normal, it will run until the air is pushed out.
If what you're hearing is a kind of a "burrrrrrrup" that stops within a second or two, that would be the water pump.

Do you have water pressure at the galley sink?  Bathroom sink, shower, toilet?
I traded in the problematic 2014 Lance for an 1150 Arctic Fox - wish EC made the 1150.
The rig looks similar to this - nothing exceeds factory weight limits.

There is a water pump switch on the oven hood. Ive got that figured out. Low water pressure switch on. Problem fixed.  wouldn't think there would be two switches. Did the picture show up in the attachment?
Once the switch ( in question) is turned on it doesn't go off.

That switch could be an aftermarket modification.
I don't remember ever seeing a phone jack outlet from the factory either.

Some folks added a switch to apply power to the basement fan. Normally the basement fan activates when the furnace comes on - the fans purpose is to move warm cabin air into the basement to help prevent freezing water lines.
If an electric heater is brought on board to use shore power when available, the basement fan won't move air - so some owner added a switch to turn on the fan.

And in some models, depending on the year, Eagle Cap added a safety switch to cut power to the slide - so that kids couldn't accidentally hit it.
But that switch was mounted up high as I recall.

I believe you are correct. It's a small fan that draws air into the compartment underneath the sink area. It has the plumbing and electrical. Thank you for helping me out!

Our 2004/5 850 has a factory phone jack mounted at the left of the step to the bed (so it's underneath the sink). We also have a small fan powered there that is intended to move air from the camper to the water tanks in cold weather, to keep them from freezing. Apparently. Dont believe we've ever used it as I can only remember one occasion camping in sub-freezing temps.

Finally got a picture ...sorry for the delay, evac'd from a too-smoky, too-fire-heavy area in BC and now in Calgary.

So, as below: phone jack (OEM) and power outlet...and switch. Confirmed it's for a small fan that blows air around under the sink and into the tank area so tanks and water lines don't freeze in winter.

(The pic is upside down...beats me...the original was fine....)
